Say the Word: It’s a Miracle
Miracle:
An extraordinary occurrence that surpasses human power,
To be considered the work of Divine Agency.

Dear Friends,
Since spring of 2021, I have been blessed to be part of a five-women Miracles Group.
Meeting bi-monthly for an hour, we just completed our 91st time together.
In this hour, each of us first briefly checks in, getting current.
Then we do a Miracle Round, naming the miracles that we have witnessed since our last meeting.
And for the final round, we offer “to the altar”, that which we choose to surrender or release, both for ourselves and for the world.
Participating in this bimonthly group for me is:
Inspiring,
Realigning,
And
Connecting—
Me to myself,
Me to this heart-centered community,
And
Me to life’s synchronicities.
The group—
It’s simplicity.
It’s profundity
Of purpose
And
Of focus
Is
A
Miracle.
Saying the word.
It’s a miracle.
Unleashes
A power,
A purpose
Just in
The speaking.
~~~
The more
Consistently,
The more
Mindfully
I speak
Aloud
The miracles
That
Surround me,
The more
I can recognize
Them,
The more,
I see them.
Clearly our lives are
Woven together
With
Miraculous
And
Remarkable
Threads
Of Grace.
They are those moments
Of synchronicity,
Of the flow state,
Made visible.
Doorways
Opening
To beauty,
To harmony,
To Grace,
Like road signs,
Pointing
The
Way
Home.
Big miracles
And
Little.
The chatter of a bird,
The breath-taking
Sunset,
The perfect person
Calling
In the
Perfect
Moment—
So many shapes.
So many forms.
So many wrappers
Of
Divine
Energy.
~~~
This time of year
Abounds
With
Celebrations of the Miraculous.
Solstice—
The return of the light.
It’s a miracle.
Christmas—
The birth of consciousness on the planet.
It’s a miracle.
Chanukah—
The success of ragtag Israelites defeating the Syrian army.
The rededication of the second Temple.
The oil, just a drop, lasting for eight days.
It’s all a giant miracle.
Kwanzaa—
The miracle
Of
African heritage
And culture
On our planet.
Clearly a miracle.
What a time.
Jampacked
With
The
Celebrations
Of
Miracles,
With Celebrations
Of
Light.
~~~
And you,
Dear Friend.
Look around.
Look inside.
What do you see?
Look for the beauty.
Look for the Grace.
Say the words.
It’s a miracle.
Acknowledging
The
Grace
In
Our
Lives
Builds
Our capacity
To
Receive
More.
Not a bad deal.
In looking around for music to celebrate such an auspicious time, I wandered from silly Christmas songs from yesteryear, around and about, and circled back to chanting, the Bhakti Yogic practice of opening our hearts to the Divine.
I posted this video chant in the spring of this year, when David Newman, beloved chanter and kirtan*-leader suddenly died.
The Stay Strong Project in partnership with Global Green USA is a charity offering in which over 30 Chant and Yoga luminaries have joined their voices in support of the Gulf Coast recovery and other environmental and humanitarian concerns.
This is exactly the musical experience that my heart needs today. I’m honored to share it with you.
Stay Strong
Keep your faith alive.
When the darkness comes
To greet us,
It will not defeat us.
Stay strong
And
Keep your
Faith
Alive.
~~~
Dear Friends,
Celebrating of the
Return of the light.
Acknowledging
The inevitability
Of the dark.
Recognizing
We get it all.
And that’s a miracle.
May all beings benefit
From our time together.
Blessings and good holidays,
Aruni

*Kirtan is a call-and-response style of singing or chanting that is a central practice in Hinduism, Sikhism, and some forms of Buddhism. It is a devotional practice that involves praising and glorifying divinity through the recitation of mantras, the names of deities, or the expression of devotion. Kirtan is often accompanied by music and can include dancing.
