Time Out—Vacation
This blog post is also available on my Facebook page to make sharing it with friends and family easy for you to do.
To know something so deeply
While not knowing it at all—
This is my relationship to
The New Jersey Shore.
Childhood memories
My tanned little-kid legs
Brushed by sea grass
On the sand dunes,
Kite in hand,
Running,
Free.
Playing
With the
Waves,
Springing upward,
Ducking into,
One
With.
Tumbling
Forward,
Blessing me
With
My
Little-girl-
Strength.
So many more
Memories.
College
Here,
Too,
But now
A blur
Of
Images.
Mom
Living
Here,
Her
Alone,
Those
Last years,
Her
Silence,
Her
Strength,
Her
Emptiness
Filled
By pictures
Of sunrises…
Of sunsets.
Vacation now,
One thousand
Years later.
Resting,
Walking,
So familiar,
And
In the
Same
Breath,
So new.
~~~
I hope you find
Some rest this week,
Dear friends.
I am grateful to recalibrate
Down into
The roll
Of
The
Waves.
Two inspirational supports this week
For us:
First, Roshi Joan Halifax, with a powerful and important read:
Practice for a World at Risk
~~~
When was the first time you heard Peace Train? Do you remember?
Do you remember memories of this song?
Where were you?
What was happening?
Here is a contemporary, multi-national version, featuring Yusuf/Cat Stevens with Playing for Change/Song around the World-Day

Dear Friends,
To summer.
To solstice.
To waves
And
Rest
And
The
Possibility
Of
Renewal.
All blessings,
Aruni
