An Under-the-Weather Blog for an Under-the-Weather Week
This blog post is also available on my Facebook page to make sharing it with friends and family easy for you to do.
Solace.
Oh.
The word itself
Offers me
A sigh.
Solace.
To give comfort
Or
Consolation.
To cheer.
To support.
How do you,
Dear Reader,
Bring comfort
To yourself?
How do you
Offer consolation,
How do you
Cheer
And
Support
Yourself?
How do you
Offer
Solace
To yourself?

I was under-the-weather this week.
(What a perfect expression.
Under the-Weather
and
Under-the-Etcetera-Week.)
Feeling unwell
Does not
For me
Swing open
The gates
Of solace.
To the contrary.
My responses?
Praying for sleep—
Ah, oblivion,
You illusive stinker,
The goal
Of my
Active addiction.
Makes sense…
Pain?
Retreat!
Pulling the shades.
Finding some
Quiet-little-
Engaging-
Enough-
But-
Not-
Riveting-
Netflix-Thing.
Offering a
Night-night
To the world.
I did okay enough.
In response to a
Dear friend’s offer,
Niki the Dog
Hung out
With friends
For five hours!
I missed her
Yet
Was
Relieved,
So relieved,
To face
The icy walks.
I am ever-so-slowly
Emerging
From “under”.
I am reengaging
With myself,
With
My
Life.
I am
Considering
And reconsidering
The practice
Of
Solace.
~~~
Solace for me
Equals
A
Delicious
Bath.
Prayers,
Morning
And
Evening
And
Any other moment
I
Can
Muster.
Dog-snuggling—
Always!
Asking for help?
UMMMMM
Not my number one.
Receiving help?
Easier.
Prayers,
Perspective,
Safe and kind people.
What else?
What do
You do?
How do you
Bring solace
To
Yourself?
~~~
Folks, here is a 17-minute blissful progressive relaxation experience. I have shared this with you, quite a while ago. Yet, it seems perfect for this week. Here you go, this, I believe this meditation is packed full of potential solace, waiting to be administered, You to You:
~~~
I heard this song early in the pandemic as it floated around our Internet World. I prob have sent it out before, but as I heard it today, it lands strong and sound in my heart. Keep Going On! Another practice of bringing solace to ourselves. Another practice of getting through, one day at a time, with as much kindness to ourselves as possible.
The Keep Going On Song
The words continue to hold relevance, what do you think?
“And I pray
When we meet again
That the world has changed
Into the world that we are imaging now together
And I pray that the world has become
The world that we’re planting inside of ourselves
For each other
For our ancestors
And for our kids
Oo-oo-oh”
May I
Be healthy.
May I
Be happy.
May I ride
The waves
Of my life.
May I live in peace
No matter what
I am given.
~~~
May you
Be healthy.
May you
Be happy.
May you ride
The waves
Of your life.
May you live in peace
No matter what
You are given.
~~~
May we
Be Healthy.
May we
Be happy.
May we ride
The waves
Of our lives.
May we live in peace
No matter what
We are given.
~~~
All blessings,
Aruni
