A Meditation on Self-Compassion
Friends,
Are you hard on yourself?
Clearly, I am.
Well, I would say,
I’m recovering from my own intensity.
Why is it that I expect so much from myself?
Why is it that we expect the-practically-almost-impossible from ourselves?
If I allow myself,
If I considered it…
Weighing all the practices I have done,
The hours and decades of hours
Of meetings,
Of therapy,
Of self-help,
Of yoga,
Of meditation
Of
Healing
Processes…
I surely might have ascended by now!
HAAAAAA.
Okay.
I know,
FULL WELL
That accepting myself
As I am
Is the answer
To all
My
Problems
Today.
Accepting myself
As I am
Is the answer.
It surely is the doorway
To change.
We can’t change
Through judgment
And shame
And force.
I truly do believe this.
And I practice it.
Oh, so imperfectly.
~~~
In Twelve Steps we say,
Progress not perfection.
No kidding.
I believe in the power
Of willingness.
The power of willingness,
To fuel our practices.
The power of willingness,
To keep coming back
To gentleness.
By not making the efforting wrong,
By not pushing away the perfectionism.
To bless it.
To honor it.
And to
Keep coming back.
To a generosity of gentleness
To bestow upon
Ourselves.
A generosity
Of
Gentleness.
Here’s Swami Kripalu,
Such an eloquent fella:
~~~
Each time you judge yourself, you break your own heart.
You stop feeding on the love, which is the wellspring of your vitality.
The time has come.
Your time.
To live.
To celebrate.
And to see the goodness that you are…
Do not fight the dark. Just turn on the light.
Let go and breathe into the goodness that you are.”
~~~
My Beloved Child! What a great line.
Break your own heart no longer.
Kindness to ourselves—ahhhh.
The balm of generosity.
The solace of self-compassion.
Kripalu Yoga on and off the mat guides us into relationship with our own humanity.
It is the human dilemma, our human moment that is the doorway to that which is Beyond.
It is the human struggle that offers us the entryway to the Divine.
Through acceptance.
Through acceptance.
Through
Acceptance
0f what is.
Friends,
Here’s a five-minute-ish guided meditation for you.
I aimed for simple and short, to support you in whatever you are doing—
Walking, driving, resting, sitting.
From my heart to yours.
Here is A Meditation on Self-Compassion.
~~~
Dear Friends,
The world continues to spin.
Things seem to devolve.
Yet we continue.
Right here.
Right now.
To practice.
Right here.
Right now.
To practice
Becoming who we
Really are.
Right here.
Right now.
Give us the courage and the willingness
To be gentle,
To be kind,
To be compassionate
With ourselves.
And from ourselves,
May all people
Be touched by kindness.
Stay blessed,
Aruni
