Since happiness can be defined as the ongoing balance between meaning and pleasure in one’s life, for this New Year, I choose to tone down the “meaning” in mine.
I choose to commit to more pleasure!
Meaning is not hard for me—work is rich, supporting people as they grow is touching and powerful, giving my focus to others is fairly effortless, and teaching is always beyond-delicious.
And then there’s pleasure—a harder realm for me.
How to relax without feeling self-indulgent?
What fun to explore without blowing boundaries of food sanity and physical wellness?
How to enjoy a wider range of food without tempting the long arm of nutritional karma?
How to create new arenas of fun and deliciousness?
I don’t really know. But I truly believe that this is my New Year’s practice: to relax more into the pleasures of my own life and to cultivate more and more of them.
It seems scary and hard…… how funny is that!
Fun = hard.
Wishing us, all, a Happy and Fun-filled New Year!
