This is a picture of the last sunset I saw. We walked and walked that day and the sun fell down into the sky, unleashing so much red stuff. Night seemed to come very, very slowly.
And then my legs didn’t work so good.
It was time to leave—that’s all. Leaving wasn’t so bad—being here was just over. Probably it was harder for my two-legged pack members than for me and my brother.
I loved being alive! Playing ball with all of my heart, flinging myself into ponds to catch the stickies my mommies threw there, eating every single thing, knowing that each person who approached me was there for total love and fun, fully embracing everything—that’s some of the stuff I loved.
Being gone is okay, too. There are lot of my friends here to play with. And my sister, that wacky Buzzie the Bird, is right here with me.
My legs work really good now! I can run and jump like nobody’s business again.
Please be my friend for a long, long time.
Goodbye for now and forever,
Lucy Kay Doodle Orthronsky
P.S. I may or may not be done talking.
P.P.S I am right here anyway!
